Dr. Yuxi Zheng graduated from Case Western Reserve University and completed her medical school training at Vanderbilt School of Medicine in Nashville, TN. She went on to complete her ophthalmology residency followed by a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at Duke University Hospital and Duke Eye Center, where she also served as a clinical instructor and chief resident.

Dr. Zheng has authored over 20 publications on vitreoretinal diseases. She has presented numerous abstracts at conferences across the country and has been awarded several honors for her research and teaching. Most recently, she received a 2026 Retina Today Rising Star award, the Retina Society Raymond R. Margherio Research Award, and the Vitreoretinal Surgery Foundation Award. She has served as an ad hoc reviewer for RETINA.

Dr. Zheng is a member of various ophthalmic societies including the Vit-Buckle Society, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Retina Specialists. She most recently served as the Fellow-in-Training co-chair of the American Society of Retina Specialists.

Dr. Zheng has recently been appointed as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital Sidney Kimmel Medical College. She is active in clinical research and has been a co-investigator in clinical trials for diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration.

Dr. Zheng is devoted to providing world class medical and surgical care to her patients. She specializes in adult and pediatric vitreoretinal surgery and treats many diseases and conditions including age-related macular degeneration, macular hole, macular pucker, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachments, secondary intraocular lenses, retinal vascular disease, and pediatric retinal diseases.
