The American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS) recently held its annual meeting in New York City where multiple Mid Atlantic Retina – Wills Retina doctors and fellows taught, presented, and moderated throughout the weekend.
Our retina fellows and medical students participated as well. Jacob Light, MD, retina fellow, received recognition as a top 10 winner for his poster on retinal detachment surgery. Medical student, Sophia Iam, presented a project on retinal macroaneurysm and also won a top 10 poster award. Numerous other trainees presented both at the podium and poster presentations, under the mentorship of our retina specialists.
At the podium, of note, Carl Regillo, MD presented first-time data from the Phase IIIb TALON study for wet AMD (age-related macular degeneration), and David Xu, MD presented during the case conference and a paper on surgery for intraocular lens fixation.
From the Mid Atlantic Retina – Wills Retina team, Sunir Garg, MD and Yoshihiro Yonekawa, MD currently serve as board members of ASRS, and also presented new data at the podium. Our physicians are very involved in leadership positions in the retina community and are always at the forefront of our field.
